Lucknow, September 25 (TNA) In view of the continuing spell of heavy rain and the forecast of more showers, the district administration has ordered all schools and colleges in Lucknow to remain closed on Saturday, September 26.
The order applies to all educational institutions from pre-primary to Class 12, including government, aided, private and board-affiliated schools, officials said. The decision was taken after several hours of rain led to waterlogging in parts of the city and weather alerts indicated that the situation could worsen.
The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall across parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, while Lucknow has also been receiving intermittent rain and strong winds. Authorities have asked school managements to strictly comply with the closure order and parents to keep students at home.
The rain spell is part of a broader weather system affecting several districts in Uttar Pradesh, with schools also being closed in some other regions due to similar alerts. Officials are expected to review the situation before taking a call on reopening.
