Bareilly, August 29 (TNA) A fire broke out on the top floor of Navodaya Hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly on Saturday morning, causing chaos inside the five-storey facility. As the fire alarm sounded, relatives rushed to carry out patients, including newborns, while hospital staff shifted critically ill patients on stretchers.

At the time of the incident, the OPD was also crowded, and around 100 patients and attendants were present in the ICU and other wards. Police and fire brigade teams reached the spot quickly and began rescue and firefighting operations.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by using water from an adjacent building, as the hospital premises were filled with smoke.

The initial cause is being linked to a possible short circuit, although officials have not yet confirmed the exact reason and an investigation is underway. Reports so far say patients were evacuated safely and no casualties have been reported in the incident.
