Bijnor, September 15 (TNA) The bodies of a missing couple were found at separate locations in a forested area of Bijnor on Tuesday, triggering concern in the district. The man was found hanging from a tree, while his wife’s body was recovered near the Ganga, around one kilometre away.
The couple, identified in local reports as Deshraj and Sushma, had reportedly left home on Monday to collect firewood from the forest near Jalalpur Kazi village. When they did not return, their family members began searching for them and informed the police.
During a search on Tuesday morning, Deshraj’s body was found hanging from a tree with a motorcycle clutch wire. Sushma’s body was recovered from the river area, with her legs reportedly tied with a dupatta. Police sources said the circumstances raised suspicion of a possible murder.
Police teams reached the spot and sent both bodies for post-mortem examination. Officers are examining the evidence and questioning family members to determine whether the couple was attacked or whether the deaths occurred under another set of circumstances.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of death or identified any suspects. Police said all possible angles, including murder, are being investigated and that further action will depend on the post-mortem findings and the investigation.
The bodies were found roughly one kilometre apart, adding to the mystery surrounding the case. Senior police officials visited the area as investigators continued collecting evidence from the forest and riverbank.
