Washington, October 28 (TNA) YouTube users across the United States reported difficulties accessing the video-streaming platform on Wednesday, with complaints involving video playback, content loading and access to the website and mobile application.
Downdetector recorded a sharp rise in user reports, reaching approximately 24,000 complaints at one point. Reports also indicated problems with YouTube Music and, in some cases, other Google services.
Videos Fail to Load
Users reported that videos were not playing or that pages were failing to load properly. Some viewers encountered an “An error occurred. Please try again later” message, while others said refreshing the website or restarting the app did not resolve the problem.
The reports emerged across multiple locations in the US, suggesting that the disruption was not limited to a single city or internet provider. Downdetector’s figures are based on user-submitted reports and may not represent the exact number of people affected.
Google Yet to Confirm Cause
Google’s official status dashboard continued to show its services as operational, and the company had not publicly confirmed the cause of the reported YouTube disruption at the time of writing.
The outage tracking data showed that reports began rising early in the day, with more than 5,100 complaints recorded by around 7:30 a.m. Pacific Time, before increasing later.
Service Status Being Monitored
Users were advised to monitor YouTube’s official support channels and service-status updates while the company investigated the reports. The disruption appeared to affect access and playback rather than indicate any loss of videos or user accounts.
The latest incident comes after previous YouTube outages in which the company attributed widespread problems to faults in its recommendations system. During a February disruption, YouTube said the issue had affected YouTube.com, the YouTube app, YouTube Music, YouTube Kids and YouTube TV.
