UK Air Traffic glitch resolved, delays persist

London, September 10 (TNA) A technical glitch in the UK air traffic control system that led to the cancellation of more than 1,000 flights has now been resolved. However, the hubs warned that it would take time for operations to return to normal after the disruption left aircraft in the wrong places.

As operations restarted, Heathrow Airport, near London, said passengers should check with their airline before heading to the airport, as schedules would have changed due to the problems. Meanwhile, Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has reportedly summoned NATS boss Martin Rolfe to a meeting on Wednesday to answer questions about the disruption and the response.

The fault was widespread across the UK and beyond, with airports in Ireland also reporting disruption
