Baltimore, September 17 (TNA) At least seven people, including a three-year-old child, were shot in Baltimore, Maryland, on Wednesday night, according to local police and media reports. All the victims were taken to hospitals with injuries reported to be non-life-threatening.
The shooting was reported at around 9 p.m. in the 1400 block of East Fayette Street, in Baltimore’s Dunbar-Broadway area. Baltimore Police Department officers reached the scene after receiving reports of gunfire and found multiple victims.
Police said the three-year-old child was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital in a police vehicle and was reported to be alert and undergoing surgery. The other victims were also shifted to hospitals for treatment.
Both East Fayette Street and Caroline Street were blocked as investigators examined the area and collected evidence. Authorities have not yet released details about the circumstances leading to the shooting or identified a suspect.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said seven victims had been identified and that their injuries were not life-threatening. Police later said there was no continuing threat to the public, although a police presence remained in the area.
The motive behind the shooting and the identity of the shooter or shooters remain unclear. Police have appealed to witnesses and anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
