Tashkent, August 30 (TNA) Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Uzbekistan’s top civilian honour during his visit to the Central Asian nation on Sunday. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented the Oliy Darajali Do’stlik Order to Modi, acknowledging his role in deepening the partnership between the two countries.
The honour came during a visit in which Modi and Mirziyoyev also held bilateral discussions on expanding cooperation in trade, energy, connectivity and other strategic areas. Reports said the meeting was part of a broader effort to upgrade India-Uzbekistan ties further.
Modi’s visit to Tashkent followed a ceremonial welcome from the Uzbek leadership, with Mirziyoyev personally receiving him at the airport. The prime minister also paid tribute at Yangi Uzbekistan Park as part of his official engagements.
The award adds to a growing list of international honours for Modi and underscores the importance both countries place on their relationship. India and Uzbekistan have been working to strengthen cooperation through trade, direct flights and new institutional mechanisms.
