New York, September 2 (TNA) A Bank of America vice president was killed in an alleged random stabbing attack in New York City’s Times Square on Monday afternoon, police said. The victim, identified as Erin Piacenti, 32, later died in hospital after suffering stab wounds.
Piacenti, a resident of Chester, New Jersey, worked as Vice President of Business Selection and Conflicts at Bank of America. The bank confirmed the death of its employee and expressed condolences to her family, describing her as a valued colleague.
The incident occurred near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue, one of the busiest areas in Midtown Manhattan. The New York Police Department said a 49-year-old woman, identified as Pamela Cisneros of Queens, allegedly attacked a 68-year-old man before stabbing Piacenti in the abdomen.
Both victims were rushed to Bellevue Hospital. Piacenti was pronounced dead, while the male victim was reported to be in stable condition. Police said the suspect was armed with two large knives and moved towards responding officers while displaying the weapons. Officers then opened fire, injuring Cisneros. She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the incident as a “random and unprovoked” attack. Police said the suspect had a documented history of mental-health concerns, though the investigation into the sequence of events and motive is continuing.
