Lucknow, August 23 (TNA) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced free bus travel for women in Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, allowing female passengers and one accompanying person to travel free on UPSRTC buses from the night of August 27 to the night of August 28.

The move is aimed at ensuring that women can travel safely and reach their destinations comfortably during the festival, officials said. The chief minister directed the transport, police and district administrations to work in coordination so that women face no inconvenience during the holiday rush.

He also asked for active deployment of the Anti-Romeo Squad, tighter checks on bus drivers, verification of private bus, auto and taxi drivers, and smoother traffic management on key routes. UPSRTC has scheduled 148 extra bus trips in the Prayagraj region for Raksha Bandhan. Those additional trips will run across seven routes between August 26 and August 31.
