Varanasi, September 20 (TNA) Jharkhand-based banned outfit TSPC’s commander Brijesh Ganjhu alias Gopal Singh Bhokta, who carried a reward of ₹30 lakh, was killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad in Varanasi on Sunday morning. Police said the encounter took place in the Ramnagar police station area after the ATS received intelligence about his movement on a motorcycle.

Officials said the ATS team tried to intercept Ganjhu near Lanka Maidan, following which he opened fire on the police. The ATS retaliated, and Ganjhu was injured in the exchange of fire. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police added that bullets fired by Ganjhu hit the bulletproof jackets of two ATS personnel, though they remained unharmed.
