Lucknow, November 6 (TNA) The Lucknow Traffic Police has announced a special traffic plan for Dhanteras, Diwali and Bhai Dooj to manage the expected rush in markets across the city. The diversions will remain in force from November 6 to November 9, with restrictions imposed at 13 locations near major commercial areas. The measures are intended to reduce congestion and ensure the safe movement of shoppers and emergency vehicles.
Vehicle Entry Restricted
Autos, tempos and private vehicles will not be allowed to enter four busy markets during the festive period:
• Aminabad.
• Bhootnath Market.
• Hazratganj.
• Patrakar Puram.
Traffic Police said commuters should use designated alternative routes and, wherever possible, avoid driving directly into the market areas.
Key Diversions
Vehicles approaching Bhootnath from the Polytechnic side will not be permitted to turn right at Bhootnath Tiraha. They will instead be diverted through Lekhraj Market and Nilgiri Crossing. Traffic approaching Patrakar Puram from Husadiya Crossing will be diverted through Dayal Paradise Crossing. Vehicles from Manoj Pandey Crossing will also be directed towards Husadiya through the alternative route.
Vehicles approaching Hazratganj from Parivartan Chowk will not be allowed to proceed directly towards the market. Traffic from Sikandar Bagh will similarly be diverted away from the Saharaganj side.
Advisory for Commuters
The Traffic Police have advised residents to plan journeys, use public transport, and follow directions from personnel deployed at diversion points. Motorists have also been asked not to park on roads near markets, as illegal parking could obstruct traffic and emergency services.
Police teams will be deployed at busy crossings and market entrances throughout the period. Commuters have been urged to check route conditions before leaving home and cooperate with officials to ensure smooth traffic movement during the festive rush.
