Baghpat, September 23 (TNA) A school bus belonging to DPS World School caught fire near Abdulapur village in the Khekra area of Baghpat district on Wednesday afternoon, reportedly after a short circuit. Five children were on board at the time of the incident.
The bus was carrying the students home after school when the fire broke out. A student noticed the flames and raised an alarm, following which the driver immediately stopped the vehicle and evacuated all five children to safety.
The fire quickly spread through the bus, which was soon engulfed in flames. Firefighters reached the spot after receiving information and managed to bring the blaze under control. However, the bus was completely gutted by the time the operation ended.
The incident took place near the Subhanpur village area, close to the Jabrella region in Khekra. The students had been returning home after school when the bus caught fire shortly after leaving the campus.
School manager Rajkumar Tyagi told the media that the fire was caused by a short circuit and confirmed that all the children were safely evacuated. No injuries were reported in the incident.
