Shamli, August 26 (TNA) Haryanvi singer and actor Ankit Baliyan was shot dead on Wednesday evening in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district in a brazen attack outside a gym, police and media reports said. The assailants reportedly fired between 15 and 20 rounds before fleeing the spot, leaving the area in panic.
According to reports, Baliyan was attacked around 7 pm soon after he came out of the gym in the Kotwali area of the city. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but doctors declared him dead on arrival or after examination, the reports said.
Police said the motive behind the killing is not yet clear, and multiple angles are being probed, including possible personal, political or professional rivalry. Officers have begun scanning CCTV footage from the area and are trying to identify the attackers.
Baliyan, who was known for the popular Haryanvi number Bhari Court Mein Goli Marenge, had a following in the regional music circuit and was also active as an actor and YouTuber.
Reports said he had been living with his family in the area recently and was originally from Bantikheda village.

The killing has triggered shock and anger in the area, with residents and supporters gathering at the spot soon after the shooting. Police said further action will be taken after a postmortem and a detailed investigation.
