Mainpuri, September 25 (TNA) Police have arrested three alleged shooters in the murder of school principal Yashpal Singh, and investigators say the killing was allegedly masterminded by his colleague Rampal over a land dispute.
One of the shooters was injured in a late-night encounter and has been taken to hospital, while Rampal and another aide, Abhishek, are still on the run.
Police said the principal’s murder was not carried out by strangers, but was allegedly orchestrated by his colleague Rampal, who hired contract killers to eliminate him. During a late-night encounter, police arrested three accused men, recovered Rs 80,000 in cash, a pistol and a motorcycle, and one shooter suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.
ASP Rural reached the spot and took stock of the encounter, police said. The injured accused was admitted to hospital, while Rampal and his associate Abhishek escaped from the scene and are being searched for.
Yashpal Singh, 52, was shot dead in broad daylight on 21 September while returning from school in the Elau area. Earlier, Rampal had lodged an FIR against his brother Ramveer and nephews Prashant and Amit, alleging that a land dispute was behind the killing.
