Lucknow, August 28 (TNA) In a display of remarkable courage and duty, traffic constable Naveen Chaudhary was injured after he chased down and caught a chain snatcher at Madiyaon Dhal on Friday afternoon, when extra police deployment was in place for Raksha Bandhan crowds and women’s safety.
According to police, Chaudhary was on traffic duty when he saw a man snatching a chain from a woman and fleeing around 12:30 pm. He immediately pursued the accused and overpowered him, without caring for his own safety.
During the struggle, the accused allegedly hit the constable on the face with a stone in an attempt to escape, causing an injury to his nose and bleeding. Despite the injury, Chaudhary did not let go of the accused and continued to hold him until he was handed over to the concerned police station.
The injured constable was taken to Him City Hospital, where doctors gave him two stitches on his nose. Officials said his condition is now stable and he is out of danger. Senior officers are keeping a close watch on his recovery.
In recognition of his bravery and prompt action, the Police Commissioner has announced a cash reward of ₹10,000 and a commendation certificate for Chaudhary. His name has also been proposed for a commendation disc, and legal action is being taken against the accused.
