Lucknow, September 20 (TNA) A fire department inspection flagged several deficiencies at Pista House in Lucknow’s Lalbagh area after social worker and RTI activist Urvashi Sharma filed a complaint through the IGRS mechanism. According to the official report dated September 2, 2026, the building at 29 BN Road has a basement, ground floor and three upper floors and measures 14.85 metres in height.

The report said the two staircases in the building are narrower than the prescribed width, while also noting the presence of various fire safety systems, including a hose reel, fire alarm system, downcomer, basement sprinkler system, terrace water tank and terrace fire pump. It added that the premises held a fire safety certificate issued for business occupancy on February 9, 2024, but was being used as a restaurant, which the fire department said was against the certificate and applicable rules.

The report also said the department issued a notice to the building’s management on August 31, 2026, and forwarded the findings to the Police Commissioner and other senior officials for necessary action. The official inspection by the Fire Department followed an initiative by social worker, RTI and IGRS activist Urvashi Sharma.
