Lucknow, September 28 (TNA) Panic gripped Wazirganj on Monday after a wall at the SA Apartment collapsed, prompting authorities to launch an evacuation operation as a precautionary measure. Officials said around 400 to 500 people were believed to be present in the apartment when the incident occurred.
Police, administrative officials and personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot soon after receiving information about the collapse. Rescue and relief arrangements were put in place, although no casualties were immediately reported.
The apartment is reportedly in a dilapidated condition, raising fears that another portion of the building could collapse. In view of the risk, residents are being evacuated from the premises. Police have cordoned off the area and installed barricades around the apartment to prevent public movement. A heavy police deployment has also been made at the site.
Lucknow District Magistrate Vishakh G. reached the spot and reviewed the situation. Administrative and rescue teams are continuing to monitor the building and assess the safety risks. Recent heavy rain in the city has heightened concerns over weakened and unsafe structures.
