Lucknow, September 25 (TNA) Rainfall activity has picked up across Uttar Pradesh after a deep depression formed over the Bay of Bengal, with several districts in the state's eastern and southern parts receiving good showers over the past two days, including Lucknow and its surroundings.
According to the weather department, rain intensity is expected to increase further in Purvanchal over the next 24 hours, with widespread showers likely across eastern Uttar Pradesh. Senior weather scientist Atul Kumar Singh said the system over south Odisha and the north coastal Andhra Pradesh region is likely to trigger a broad increase in rainfall activity across the state.
The impact of the weather system is expected to extend to several districts in western Uttar Pradesh by late Friday evening, accompanied by gusty winds blowing at around 40 to 50 kmph. The IMD has also indicated isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over East Uttar Pradesh between September 25 and 27, with heavy rain likely in West Uttar Pradesh on September 26 and 27.
Meteorologists have advised residents to remain alert as thunderstorms and lightning are also likely in several parts of the state during this spell. The system is expected to keep monsoon conditions active over Uttar Pradesh for the next few days.
