Hapur, August 31 (TNA) Four people were killed and one person suffered serious injuries after a speeding Thar SUV lost control and crashed on the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district late Sunday night. The victims, all residents of Budaun and en route to Delhi, included two real brothers.

The accident took place at 11:56 pm in the Simbhaoli police station area, around 35 km from the district headquarters. According to eyewitnesses and CCTV footage that surfaced later, the SUV was moving at high speed when it suddenly went out of control, broke through the divider, crossed six lanes and hit the railing on the other side. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was mangled, with its roof torn off and the bonnet completely smashed.

Police said the occupants were trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle and locals helped pull them out before officers and Dial-112 personnel reached the spot. All five injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where four were declared dead, while one teenager remains under treatment.

The deceased were identified as Joginder, Sukhbir, Jaswant and Ravi. Police said preliminary findings suggest overspeeding as the likely cause of the crash.
