Lucknow, October 30 (TNA) Cold winds swept through Lucknow on Friday morning as the city remained under a thick layer of clouds. The sun did not appear during the morning, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures and a change in the weather.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast a strong possibility of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in Lucknow and parts of Uttar Pradesh. A yellow alert has been issued for the possibility of rain, lightning and strong winds reaching 40–50 kmph.
Rain Likely Through the Day
According to the IMD’s Lucknow bulletin, showers or thundershowers are likely in parts of the region, with the possibility of heavy rain at some locations. The forecast indicates that the unsettled weather may continue through Friday.
The weather system is also expected to cause squalls and lightning in isolated areas. Residents have been advised to remain alert during thunderstorms and avoid standing near trees, electric poles, hoardings and other temporary structures.
Temperatures May Fall
The continuing cloud cover, rain and strong winds are likely to lower daytime temperatures. The IMD has forecast a notable fall in maximum temperatures across parts of Uttar Pradesh, with some areas potentially recording a decline of 6–9 degrees Celsius.
The sudden change comes amid the influence of Cyclone Arnab, which has contributed to widespread unseasonal rain and storm activity across northern India. The system is expected to keep weather conditions unsettled in the state during the next few days.
Travel Advisory
Commuters in Lucknow have been advised to drive cautiously as rain could make roads slippery and reduce visibility. People should avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during lightning and strong winds, while residents are advised to secure loose objects on balconies and rooftops.
The IMD will continue to monitor the system and issue further updates if the intensity of rain, lightning or winds increases.
