Lucknow, September 15 (TNA) The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested four people, including two senior officers of the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), Lucknow, in a bribery case involving Rs 4 lakh, officials said on Tuesday.
The accused include RDSO Deputy Director Ashutosh Kumar and Senior Section Engineer Deepak Kumar, along with two representatives of Kolkata-based Utkarsh India Ltd, Shashank Agrawal and Swaroop Kumar Rai.
According to the report, the CBI trapped the two RDSO officers at a hotel in Howrah, Kolkata, while allegedly accepting the bribe. The agency also recovered an additional Rs 4.73 lakh in cash during the operation, and all the money was seized.
The case pertains to allegations that the officials, in collusion with the company representatives, demanded money in exchange for issuing a favourable inspection report for factory machinery and plant.
The CBI has also carried out searches at locations linked to the accused in Lucknow, Kolkata and Bihar, and said the investigation is continuing.
