Sambhal, October 18 (TNA) The Sambhal Police have recovered 233 lost or stolen mobile phones valued at approximately ₹43 lakh and returned them to their rightful owners under an ongoing mobile-recovery campaign.

The recovered devices were traced with the help of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, a government system used to block and track lost or stolen mobile phones. The Cyber Crime Police coordinated the recovery operation and verified the ownership claims before handing over the phones.

A handover programme was organised at the district headquarters, where police officials returned the recovered devices to residents. The owners expressed relief and gratitude as they received their phones back after reporting them missing.

Superintendent of Police Vikas Chandra Tripathi said the recovery drive would continue. Police also urged citizens who lose their phones to report the matter promptly and register a request on the CEIR portal so the devices can be blocked and traced.

The campaign is part of the police department’s broader effort to use technology to protect citizens’ property and strengthen public confidence. Officials said returning lost belongings is not merely a procedural exercise but a sustained effort to improve public safety, convenience and trust.

The Sambhal Police also used the occasion to raise awareness about cybercrime and advised residents to remain cautious when sharing personal or banking information through mobile devices.
