Lucknow, October 7 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has announced the state’s squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, with wicketkeeper-batter Aryan Juyal appointed captain. The team includes India batter Rinku Singh and fast bowler Kartik Tyagi.
The announcement also marks the return of leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari to the Uttar Pradesh Ranji squad after a six-year gap. Ansari last played a Ranji Trophy match for the state in 2020 and has returned to the red-ball setup after an impressive domestic campaign.
The squad features several recognised domestic players, including Rinku Singh, Yash Dayal, Priyam Garg, Madhav Kaushik, Aradhya Yadav, Siddharth Yadav and Kunal Tyagi. Kartik Tyagi, who was recently associated with India’s T20I squad for the Asian Games in Japan, has also been included.
Uttar Pradesh will follow a split-captaincy model this season, with Juyal leading the Ranji Trophy side while Karan Sharma is set to captain the team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Former India spinner and Uttar Pradesh veteran Gyanendra Pandey will coach the red-ball team.
