‘The Pitt’ and ‘Widow’s Bay’ Win Top Honours at 2026 Emmy Awards

Los Angeles, September 15 (TNA) The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards honoured the year’s leading television shows and performers at a ceremony hosted by Mariska Hargitay in Los Angeles on Monday. Medical drama The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series, while Widow’s Bay took the top comedy prize.

The Pitt also earned Noah Wyle the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. The programme won the drama award for the second consecutive year, strengthening its position as one of television’s leading series.

Major Winners

Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay emerged as one of the evening’s biggest winners, taking six awards during the main ceremony. The show won Outstanding Comedy Series, along with major acting, writing and directing honours.

Notable Records

Matthew Rhys made Emmy history by becoming the first male performer to win lead acting awards in two different categories in the same year. He also won the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for The Beast in Me.

Jean Smart won her fifth consecutive Emmy for lead actress in a comedy series for Hacks. Her latest victory marked another milestone in the show’s successful run. The awards were distributed across several networks and streaming platforms, with Widow’s Bay, The Pitt, Pluribus and DTF St. Louis among the most prominent winners of the night.
