Hyderabad, August 22 (TNA) Two people were killed and several others injured after a seven-storey under-construction building collapsed in Anjaiah Nagar in Madhapur on Saturday afternoon, triggering a major rescue operation by police and emergency teams.

The structure suddenly gave way in the area under Madhapur police station limits, and rescue personnel rushed to the spot to clear debris and search for people feared trapped under the rubble.

According to reports, the collapse occurred on a 50-square-yard plot, and the building was reportedly under construction near a big drain. The fallen structure also damaged an adjacent apartment building, causing panic in the neighbourhood and leaving residents alarmed as teams continued removal work.

Officials said the bodies of two victims were recovered from the debris, while several injured people were shifted for medical treatment. Emergency responders, including local police, HYDRAA and fire department teams, reached the site soon after the collapse and began clearing the rubble. Rescue workers were still searching for possible survivors or additional victims trapped beneath the debris as the operation continued into the evening.

Early reports suggest the building may have lacked proper clearances, and some local accounts said construction had been under scrutiny before the incident.
