Mumbai, September 24 (TNA) Veteran Bollywood actor Mushtaq Khan, a familiar face in Hindi cinema and television for more than three decades, died on Thursday evening at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai after a prolonged battle with cancer, according to reports and confirmations from his business partner.
He was 56 and had been admitted to the hospital about 15 days ago after his condition worsened. Reports said he had been in the ICU and his illness had relapsed recently, leading to a critical decline in his health.
His business partner Shivam confirmed that Khan passed away around 7 pm on Thursday, adding that the actor had earlier been diagnosed with lung cancer, recovered for a time, but suffered a relapse eight days ago. Some reports described the illness as liver cancer, while others reported lung cancer.
Khan was widely known for his comic roles in popular films including Welcome, Hera Pheri, Aashiqui, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Stree 2. His last rites are expected to be held on Friday, September 25, according to reports.
