Mumbai, September 8 (TNA) Mumbai police have detained two suspects near the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in BKC ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled rally on Tuesday, seizing a fake Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) identity card and a gun from them.
According to police, 24-year-old Rohan Parekh tried to enter the venue claiming to be a senior PMO officer. During checks, officials found a forged PMO ID card in his possession. Another man accompanying him, who police say was posing as a bodyguard, was taken into custody after a gun was recovered from him.
Mumbai Police said the duo was intercepted on September 7 when they attempted to gain access to the event site using the fake identification. “The alertness of the police personnel on duty helped stop them, and investigation revealed the ID card to be fake,” a police official said.
The arrests come as part of heightened security arrangements in the city ahead of PM Modi’s public program at the BKC complex. Police have not disclosed further details about the suspects’ motives or possible links to any larger module, saying investigations are ongoing.
