Bengaluru, November 1 (TNA) Two foreign nationals died after reportedly suffering an electric shock in the swimming pool of the Conrad Bengaluru hotel in the city’s Halasuru area on Friday evening, police said.

The deceased were identified as Alexander Maximilian Theiss, 57, a German national and Lufthansa crew member, and Juraj Horvat, 45, a Slovak national who worked as a project manager with IBM.

The incident took place at the hotel’s third-floor swimming pool between approximately 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Preliminary findings suggest that the two men may have been exposed to an electric current while attempting to get out of the pool before drowning.

Police said the exact cause of the incident has not yet been established. Investigators are examining how electricity may have entered the pool and whether any equipment failure or safety lapse was involved.

Two people were injured while attempting to rescue the victims. They were identified as Mathew Desantis, 41, an American tourist staying at the hotel, and Rahul Tiwari.
