Six Mainpuri devotees killed, 14 injured after pickup crashes into parked truck on KMP Expressway

Palwal, September 1 (TNA) Six devotees from Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district were killed and 14 others injured in a horrific road accident on Haryana’s KMP Expressway early Tuesday, after their pickup vehicle rammed into a truck parked on the roadside near Maheshpur village.

According to police, the group was returning to Vrindavan after visiting the Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji temples in Rajasthan. The devotees had hired the pickup for the religious trip and were travelling through Palwal when the collision took place.

The impact of the crash was so severe that the pickup was badly mangled, leaving several passengers trapped inside. Passersby alerted the police and ambulance services, after which the injured were rushed to the civil hospital in Palwal.

Police identified the deceased as Vijay Singh, Raj Kumar, Reshma Devi, Kamla Devi, Sudha and Mahesh. Officials said three of the victims were women. The truck driver reportedly fled the scene after the collision, and police are scanning CCTV footage to trace the vehicle and identify the accused.
