Jabalpur, August 27 (TNA) Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on Thursday attended the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the T-72 and T-90 Tank Overhaul Project at the Vehicle Factory, Jabalpur. This project marks an important step towards strengthening our defence preparedness and advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence production.
The plant at Jabalpur, being closer to Army field formations, will significantly reduce transportation time and logistical requirements for tank overhaul and maintenance, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and readiness.
The project will also strengthen the domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem by creating new opportunities for MSMEs in manufacturing, ancillary services and component supply. This will help develop a robust and resilient defence supply chain and generate new avenues for local industrial growth and employment.
Singh also interacted with MSMEs and industry partners from Madhya Pradesh, who expressed their commitment to contributing towards the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The project is also a reflection of the growing manufacturing and defence ecosystem in Madhya Pradesh. Initiatives such as the ‘Global Investors Summit 2025’ and ‘Invest MP 3.0’ reflect the vision of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav to develop Madhya Pradesh as a Defence and Aerospace Manufacturing Hub, he added.
