New Delhi, August 21 (TNA) Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday reached Parliament Street Police Station in the capital with a student injured during the July 20 protest over paper leak and exam irregularities, seeking registration of a complaint against alleged police action. According to reports, the complaint was not registered earlier at Mandir Marg Police Station, prompting Gandhi to continue pressing the matter at the DCP office.

The case is linked to allegations that pellet guns were used during the student protest, leaving 19-year-old Sahil Lochab with injuries, including damage to one eye. Rahul Gandhi had earlier publicly accused the authorities of using excessive force against peaceful protesters and demanded action in the matter.

After the FIR was not filed immediately, Gandhi reportedly sat on a protest inside the police station premises, insisting that the complaint be formally registered before he left. Congress leaders said he was determined to remain there until the matter was taken up by police officials.

The incident has once again brought the issue of police action during the paper leak protests back into the political spotlight, with the Congress accusing the authorities of shielding those responsible. Police, meanwhile, are yet to issue a detailed public response to the complaint.
