Pune, October 31 (TNA) A 33-year-old woman and her six-year-old son died after falling from the 18th floor of a residential building in the Dange Chowk area of Pimpri-Chinchwad on Friday evening, police said.

The deceased were identified as Ekta Bhangad and her son, Madhav. The family had reportedly been living on the seventh floor of the building with Ekta’s husband, Manoj Bhangad.

Police Examine Note

Police recovered a seven- to eight-page note from the woman’s home. According to preliminary reports, the note allegedly urged her husband to remarry and continue his life. Investigators are examining the note and verifying its contents as part of the inquiry.

Officials have not yet confirmed the motive or established whether any other factor contributed to the deaths. Police are questioning family members and examining evidence from the residential complex.

CCTV Footage Reviewed

Preliminary CCTV footage reportedly showed the woman taking a lift to the 18th floor with her son. Investigators are examining the footage and other evidence from the building to reconstruct the events leading up to the incident.

Residents alerted authorities after hearing a loud sound from the building’s duct area at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Police and emergency personnel reached the site soon afterwards.

Forensic Probe Underway

A forensic team inspected the location, while the bodies were sent to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri for post-mortem examinations. The Wakad police are conducting further investigation and have not announced any arrests.

Authorities are expected to record statements from relatives, building residents and others familiar with the family. The investigation will also focus on the circumstances surrounding the note and the sequence of events inside the building.
