Mumbai, October 23 (TNA) Security agencies and Mumbai Police have been placed on high alert after an email threatened bomb attacks at the office of Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, actor Amitabh Bachchan’s Juhu residence ‘Jalsa’, singer Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert venue and educational institutions in the city.

The email was reportedly sent to the mayor’s office on Friday morning and was also marked to Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi. It warned of a grenade attack on a school on October 31 and threatened to target Bachchan’s residence between October 31 and November 27.

The message also mentioned Dosanjh’s concert scheduled for November 27 at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Police have not confirmed whether the threat is credible, and an investigation is underway to trace the sender and establish the origin of the email.

Security stepped up

As a precautionary measure, security and surveillance have been increased at the mayor’s office, Mahalaxmi Racecourse, prominent schools and other locations named in the message. Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads and local police teams have been deployed to conduct searches and assess the threat.

A school in the Mumbai metropolitan region also reportedly received a similar threat, prompting authorities to inspect the premises and review safety arrangements. Officials have advised school administrations and event organisers to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious activity.

Investigation under way

The email reportedly included references to Khalistan and made threatening remarks linked to past events. Police are examining the language, technical details, sender information and possible links to earlier threat messages.

Authorities have not reported any explosives or suspicious objects at the locations mentioned in the email. Officials said additional security measures would remain in place until the assessment is complete.

The threat comes days after Delhi Police denied permission for Dosanjh’s October 30 concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, citing security concerns and specific threat-related inputs. The two developments have increased scrutiny of security arrangements around the singer’s upcoming public events.
