Katni, August 21 (TNA) A senior Income Tax officer originally from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, was found dead in a locked room at a government rest house in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, triggering a police investigation into the suspicious death. The officer, identified as Manvendra Pratap Singh, was staying at the Income Tax Department’s rest house in the Bargawan area under Madhav Nagar police station limits.

According to police, a government driver had gone to Singh’s room in the morning to collect the car keys, but after repeated knocks and no response from inside, the staff alerted the police. Officers then broke open the door and found him lying unconscious on the bed.

Police said no suicide note was recovered from the room and there were no visible injury marks on the body, making the case uncertain at this stage. While some initial reports suggested a possible silent heart attack, officials have not confirmed the cause of death yet.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death.
