New Delhi, October 12 (TNA) Delhi and several parts of the National Capital Region received heavy rain late on Sunday night, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds. The sudden change in weather brought down temperatures and provided relief from the recent warm and humid conditions.

Rain began around midnight and continued into the early hours of Monday in several areas of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. Strong winds and thunderstorms were reported before and during the showers.

The downpour led to waterlogging in parts of the national capital and surrounding areas, affecting movement on several roads. Commuters were advised to exercise caution as rain, poor visibility and water accumulation slowed traffic.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms across Delhi-NCR and warned that strong winds could reach speeds of up to 60 kmph. The department advised residents to remain alert during intense spells of rain.

The rainfall also caused a noticeable fall in temperatures. According to the IMD, Delhi’s maximum temperature had already declined by 1–2 degrees Celsius over the previous 24 hours, while minimum temperatures remained between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius.

The IMD said unsettled weather conditions could continue for the next few hours, with further rain and thunderstorms possible in parts of Delhi-NCR. Flight operations at Delhi airport remained normal despite the weather, according to airport authorities.
