New Delhi, October 3 (TNA) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday announced that alleged international drug-trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh had been deported from Türkiye and brought back to India. Singh has been lodged in jail in connection with cases related to drug trafficking and other alleged crimes, Shah said.

In a post on X, Shah described the development as a “historic milestone” for the government. He said Singh had acquired Turkish citizenship using the alleged false identity of Navab Virk and had continued to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine from Afghanistan into India.

Shah said Indian agencies tracked Singh down and uncovered his alleged true identity before securing his deportation. “Today he has been brought back to India and put behind bars,” the Home Minister said, referring to cases involving drug trafficking and other offences.

According to the Home Minister’s statement, Singh had allegedly operated across international borders while attempting to conceal his identity through Turkish citizenship. The case highlights the role of Indian agencies in tracing suspects accused of involvement in transnational narcotics networks.

Officials have not publicly disclosed detailed information about the deportation process, including the exact date of Singh’s removal from Türkiye or the agencies involved in the operation. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation and legal proceedings progress.

Singh will now face proceedings in India in cases concerning alleged drug trafficking and other criminal activities. The charges against him are allegations and will be tested before the competent courts.
