New Delhi, October 22 (TNA) Deepinder Goyal, founder of Zomato and vice chairman of its parent company Eternal, has announced a new artificial intelligence venture called Dark.ai, signalling the company’s ambitions beyond food delivery and quick commerce.

Goyal introduced the project in a brief social-media post describing it as “Dark.ai—from the house of Eternal” and adding “coming soon.” The teaser has generated speculation about the product’s purpose, features and business model.

Focus on private AI

According to details shared in Eternal’s second-quarter shareholders’ letter, Dark.ai is being developed as a privacy-focused AI assistant. The platform is expected to allow users to ask questions, explore ideas and interact with AI while keeping their conversations inaccessible to the company operating the service.

The service will reportedly use fine-tuned frontier open-weight models running on Eternal’s own infrastructure. Goyal said encryption would be used to prevent even the platform’s operators from accessing users’ conversations.

Dark.ai is also expected to include a user-controlled memory layer, allowing people to retain context across sessions without handing full control of their personal data to the service provider.

Global launch planned

Eternal is targeting a global launch by the end of 2026, although the company has not announced a firm release date. The platform is currently reported to be undergoing internal testing.

The announcement expands Eternal’s portfolio beyond Zomato, Blinkit, Hyperpure and District. It also places the company in competition with established consumer AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini, although Dark.ai’s privacy architecture is expected to be its key point of differentiation.

Eternal has not yet disclosed pricing, supported devices, geographic availability or whether Dark.ai will be offered as a standalone application or integrated with the company’s existing services. Further details are expected in the company’s upcoming product communication.
