Lucknow, September 21 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh is strengthening the implementation of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) to enhance core and social infrastructure planning, improve inter-departmental coordination, and accelerate project execution across the state.
The initiative focuses on leveraging integrated geospatial data and digital planning tools to identify infrastructure gaps, optimize resource allocation, enable evidence-based decision-making, and ensure faster, more efficient delivery of infrastructure projects.
A meeting on the effective implementation of PM Gati Shakti was held at the Invest UP office in Lucknow in collaboration with BISAG-N (MeitY). More than 100 officials from departments and districts participated, including representatives from PWD, Energy, UPEIDA, Health, Education and Skill Development.
Focus shifts from planning to project implementation
The meeting reviewed how PM Gati Shakti can be used more effectively at the project level, from identifying requirements and gaps to coordinating departments and monitoring execution. Officials discussed data integration, project planning, infrastructure alignment and best practices that can help reduce delays and improve outcomes.
Uttar Pradesh has integrated 29 mandatory data layers and initiated or integrated 56 additional departmental layers on the PM Gati Shakti platform. The framework is being used to support evidence-based decisions across infrastructure and economic development projects.
A key outcome has been the implementation of more than 32 infrastructure projects worth over ₹2,150 crore under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme. The state has emphasised regular review meetings.
CEO Invest UP Vijay Kiran Anand said stronger coordination and technology-enabled planning were helping departments move projects from conception to execution.
“PM Gati Shakti is helping departments work with a common planning framework, identify gaps early and coordinate project requirements more effectively. This is supporting faster and more efficient implementation on the ground,” he said.
Institutional framework strengthens execution
The government has issued a Government Order mandating the use of the PM Gati Shakti portal for project planning and execution. Infrastructure projects above ₹100 crore require consideration through the EGoS/NPG framework. District-level planning mechanisms have also been operationalised across all 75 districts, with nodal officers and dedicated access.
More than 2,000 officials have been trained, while over 26 applications have been developed to support planning and monitoring. Use cases such as the PAHUNCH education planning tool, Lucknow Metro Phase-1B alignment planning and land identification for Annapurna Bhawan demonstrate how the framework is being translated into project-level action.
The initiative complements Uttar Pradesh’s expanding expressway, rail and airport network, while supporting logistics efficiency, industrial development and investment facilitation. By strengthening coordination and execution, PM Gati Shakti is helping the state build infrastructure with greater efficiency and long-term economic impact.
