Mumbai, August 24 (TNA) Indian equity markets started the session on a firm note on Monday, as benchmark indices tracked a positive opening tone in early trade. Around the opening bell, the Sensex was up, while the Nifty also moved higher, supported by buying interest in index heavyweights and a broadly steady sentiment across Asian cues.

Market sentiment improved after GIFT Nifty indicated a positive start for the day, with traders also watching developments around global oil prices, US macro events and overseas market cues. Early movement suggested that investors were beginning the week with a cautious but constructive bias, after the previous sessions had seen swings driven by crude oil fluctuations and geopolitical uncertainty.

In early trade, stocks linked to metals and IT were among the key gainers in previous market sessions, while broader market participation had remained mixed. The Nifty had ended the last trading session at 24,252 and the Sensex at 77,540.83, giving the market a relatively strong base to build on at the open

Traders are also keeping an eye on global triggers such as oil prices, US policy signals and corporate earnings, which may influence intraday direction. If the opening strength sustains, the market could attempt to extend its recent recovery; however, volatility may remain high given mixed global headlines.
