Mumbai, October 27 (TNA) Indian benchmark indices closed almost unchanged on Tuesday after a choppy trading session, as gains in pharmaceutical, realty and media stocks were offset by weakness in banking, financial and information technology shares.
The BSE Sensex slipped 8.08 points, or 0.01%, to settle at 73,598.67, while the NSE Nifty 50 declined 3.45 points, or 0.02%, to close at 22,749.75.
Broader Markets Outperform
The broader market performed better than the benchmark indices. The Nifty Midcap 100 rose around 1%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 gained approximately 2.7% during the session.
Sectorally, pharmaceutical, realty and media stocks advanced, while banking and financial stocks faced selling pressure. Information technology shares also weighed on the headline indices.
Crude Prices, Fed Decision Weigh
Investor sentiment remained cautious amid elevated crude oil prices and uncertainty surrounding the US Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy decision. These concerns limited buying despite gains in select sectors.
The flat close followed Monday’s sharp recovery, when the Sensex had gained 482.92 points, and the Nifty 50 advanced 153.20 points, ending a four-session losing streak.
