LUCKNOW || Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday called on governor Anandiben Patel and briefed her about the law and order situation in the state, especially in wake of the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) which sparked violence leaving 11 persons dead.
He also submitted a report on the violence to the Raj Bhawan. There have been widespread protests against the state and central government in more than 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh in the last few days and violence broke out at many places. Police stations were attacked, set ablaze and ransacked along with public and private property.
More than 500 people have been arrested and the internet, mobile and sms have been switched off to avoid rumours. Yogi meanwhile has asked the police to identify the miscreants and take stringent action against them and attach their property to compensate for the damage done to public places and property.
Patel has also called upon people to maintain calm and peace and not to disrupt normal life.
