LUCKNOW || In the middle of a crazy week that saw violence singe many parts of the state, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath took out time late on Thursday to check on the destitute and homeless as the cold wave intensified across the state.
The monk-turned-politician drove in his heavily guarded motorcade and visited many night shelters – Rain Basera‘s – in the state capital and checked for himself whether the facilities being provided to people were enough or not.
Around 10 at night, the CM’s cavalcade drove to the night shelter at the Laxman Mela grounds after which he visited the Nabeullah road’s night shelter. He interacted with the women present there and asked them whether they had been attended to properly by the officials or not. The women replied in affirmative.
A few persons in the night shelters were found unwell and the saffron-robed chief minister asked the district magistrate (DM) of Lucknow to get them attended by doctors immediately. He also directed present officials to ensure hot water for bathing.
Adityanath also visited the Trauma Center at the KGMU. He was accompanied by the KGMU vice-chancellor MLB Bhatt. When asked why the attendants of patients were sleeping on the floor at the night shelter, the DM apprised him that these arrangements were done by the varsity management.
The UP chief minister then directed Bhatt to ensure mattresses for the people. He was accompanied by top officials and some cabinet colleagues as he visited the night shelters. UP has been in throes of an unprecedented cold wave for the past week.
