PRAYAGRAJ || Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday took a holy dip in the Ganges river at Prayagraj on the occasion of Basant Panchami, a Hindu festival dedicated to Goddess Saraswati.
Accompanied by the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Swatantra Dev Singh, his ministerial colleagues Siddharth Nath Singh, Gopal Nandi and others, the monk-turned-politician splashed into the Ganges river and then offered the water from the holy river to the Sun.
Lensmen present at the event went into a tizzy as the chief ministers and other VIP’s took a holy dip. Later the chief minister performed puja at the banks and greeted people who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the saffron-robed chief executive of the state.
Later he also took part in kite flying and had also visited the referred temple of ‘Lete Hanuman ji’ (lying down Hindu monkey God). Thousands of devotees also took the dip at the Sangam and at many other places in the state.
