KANPUR || Not known to be very tech-savvy, saffron-robed Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday shrugged off this hesitation and clicked his “first selfie”. The event happened at the Namami Gange project site in Kanpur at the selfie-point which has been made at Asia’s one time biggest drain that used to offload 140 MLD sewage every day into the Ganga river.
Under the Namami Gange project, the drain has been diverted and the area has been spruced up. The meeting of the National Ganga Council is scheduled to take place here in Kanpur on Saturday.
The meeting will be chaired by prime minister Narendra Modi. More than 10 union ministers, five chief ministers and more than two dozen union secretaries and top bureaucrats are scheduled to partake in the meet.
Adityanath on Thursday had gone to Kanpur to check the preparations for the mega meet. Soon after landing on a state chopper, he took a steamer and got down at Bhairav Ghat. He then went to the nose of the Seesamau drain and after a brief interaction with officials, took a selfie there.
