Moroccan King, Chinese President Discuss Bilateral Ties Over Phone

The King and Chinese President also discussed the partnership between the two countries in the fight against COVID-19.

RABAT || The Moroccan ruler HM King Mohammed VI on Monday had a telephone conversation with His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, a statement from the Royal Office said.

The meeting is part of the friendly relations between the two countries, reinforced by the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership, signed by HM the King and President Xi Jinping during the royal visit to Beijing, in May 2016.

The telephone conversation between HM the King and the President of the People's Republic of China focused on the development of bilateral relations in all fields, notably the political dialogue, the economic cooperation and cultural and human exchanges.

The King and Chinese President also discussed the partnership between the two countries in the fight against COVID-19. The meeting was an occasion to thank the People's Republic of China for the support it provided to the robust preventive measures taken by the Kingdom of Morocco in order to stem the spread of the pandemic, in terms of medical equipment, screening tests, and sharing information and expertise.

The two Heads of State also discussed the future stages of operational cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People's Republic of China, as part of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
