Bulandshahr || In a tragic and shocking incident, two women who protested undue advance of some local youth last night, were on Tuesday mowed down by a car driven by a youth who had tried to molest them, police said. The police had initially filed a case of the accident now say they were also investigating the molestation allegations on the accused.
CCTV footage shows the car at high speed running over the women. The car is then spotted fleeing the crime scene. The man on the wheel was apparently drunk at the time of the incident. In a related development, a video shot by a local youth shows a young man accusing the man of misbehaving her and threatening her and the family harm.
Sometime later he mowed two members of the family were run over by him in an apparent fit of rage. The information available says that the women had returned from a wedding function late last night and a man started peeing outside their house. He was tipsy and when the women protested started to molest them. But when the continued with their protests he escaped from the scene as people had started gathering.
He, however, returned with some friends and ran them over. The deceased have been identified as Satyavati and Urmila. Both died on the spot. Jitendra and another unidentified man have also been injured.
Police took charge of the bodies and sent it for post-mortem. Family members, however, have refused to cremate them and have put the bodies on the highway and jammed traffic.
The accused has been identified as Atul, a resident of Chandpur road. The protestors are demanding immediate arrest of the accused and officials are trying to pacify them into withdrawing the sit-in. They have assured that the culprit will be arrested at the earliest and brought to justice.
