AGRA || In Agra’s Kothi Meena Bazaar grounds, a unique record of the highest number of weddings in a mass marriage ceremony was solemnized. 1260 couples tied the knot taking vows getting into holy matrimony. The biggest mass wedding event was held under the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Girl Child Marriage Assistance Scheme.
The mass wedding held under the aegis of the state Labour Department and the Agra Municipal Corporation there saw participation by both Hindus and Muslims. It aims at making it to the Limca Book of World Records.
The four districts of the division had separate blocks and over 24,000 relatives watched the proceedings. The ground was tastefully decorated.
All this as police arrangements were prim and proper. Hassle-free movement for the serpentine Barat procession was ensured.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who reached the biggest wedding ceremony, starting with Banke Bihari Lal and Radhe Rani Ki Jai said that the group marriage of 1260 girls is a wonderful sight. The Community Marriage Scheme was launched two and a half years ago.
Till now one lakh couples of a wide gamut of social denominations have got married. 75 thousand will be given to each couple. 65 thousand rupees in the account of the labourers and 10 thousand rupees for clothes. CM Yogi has said that the labourer of the nation is the creator.

As per the Labor Department, this was the largest mass wedding ceremony ever. Deputy Chief Minister of the state Keshav Prasad Maurya and Labor Minister Swami Prasad Maurya attended this mass wedding ceremony. MP Prof SP Singh Baghel and Mayor Naveen Jain gave their support.
