LUCKNOW || Like elsewhere in most parts of Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, the NCR, Lucknow too is witnessing a thick smog, with poor air quality after Diwali. In a bid to tackle the menace, the district police have decided to seize auto-rickshaws and tempos of all districts from outside Lucknow but plying in the state capital, an official said on Saturday.
Lucknow’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kalanidhi Naithani, the official informed has ordered: “seizure of all autos and tempos from other districts, plying in Lucknow, in view of rising air pollution“. It was also informed that all the diesel autos from Lucknow found plying on the city roads will also be seized.
The state capital is facing severe pollution conditions for the last 3-4 days. The Festival of Lights Diwali has added to the woes with the smoke of crackers settling with the fog and forming a thick blanket of smog, leading to health issues like allergy, cough and cold to the people.
