Covid: Consciousness And Compulsiveness

Covid: Consciousness And Compulsiveness

Charles Darwin, is a well-known name and needs no introduction. Darwin along with his younger colleague Alfred Russel Wallace, provided the initial theoretical underpinnings of human evolutionary science as it is practiced today.

According to him (and majority today) human beings have evolved from the monkeys. This was a natural process of evolution. Monkeys evolved and developed and they had no choice. Today as humans we have the wisdom and foresight to decide, as to how we can evolve as an individual or a group.

At Mahabharata, when Arjun saw his kith and kin in the battle field, his response to put down his weapons was compulsive. Lord Krishna gave him the life lessons, and evolved him from a disheartened human to a “Parth dhanurdhar”. This evolution was conscious. It was a consequence of enlightenment, and we all know this enlightenment as “Gita”.

Consciousness helps us to function from our intelligence. Compulsiveness is an outcome of instinct. When intelligence overpowers instinct, we become wise, and when instinct overpowers intelligence we become a slave of the situation. We call it stress, madness, depression so on and so forth.

The difference between the two becomes even more relevant in the tough times that we face today. We as humans always look forward to enforcement to drive us. How about, if we allow ourselves to be driven by discipline. Enforcement is compulsive, whereas discipline is conscious.

A simple task of ensuring a physical distance of six feet and wearing a mask could have only been achieved by discipline. We wait for enforcement of lockdown for that. Blaming the state is compulsive whereas ensuring compliance and spreading its awareness is conscious. Actually, the capacity to do things consciously, makes us different from other animals.

All animals’ live life with instinctive compulsiveness. Humans have the capacity to move beyond instinct. That’s why we are called human beings. Let us understand this with an example. A tiger in pain, when approached by a veterinary, will instinctively attack his well-wisher. But a human will always, listen to and welcome his Doctor. The difference is only of conscious awareness.

Consciousness helps us to function from our intelligence. Compulsiveness is an outcome of instinct. When intelligence overpowers instinct, we become wise, and when instinct overpowers intelligence we become a slave of the situation. We call it stress, madness, depression so on and so forth.

Choice of consciousness over compulsiveness can also get us desired consequences against covid. Let’s understand how? An expert Doctor who has cured more than thirteen hundred covid patients says, only six percent of people affected by covid need hospitalization. If the hospitals of our country need to tackle only this six percent, they will be able to attend them better and even save more lives.

Let’s look at these 94 % who do not need hospitalization. Either they will have no symptoms or very less symptoms. This means that their immunity is working well for them. Consequently, in one week to ten days all these symptoms will settle down. Maybe a loss of smell or taste might occur. Treatment can be achieved by over the counter medicines, Ayurveda and some discipline as per the advice form the family doctor over the phone. This is a behavior driven by consciousness. Let’s see what happens when we become compulsive.

Moment one is tested positive all hell breaks loose. One gets flooded with advice from friends and relatives, each one narrating their experiences and the gory details from news and social media. This creates panic. When one panics his/her breathing pattern changes and becomes shallow. This brings Carbon Dioxide into lungs, which brings breathlessness. One is told that the lungs are getting affected, but it’s the anxiety which is causing breathlessness.

Now one goes for further investigations like D Dimer, CT scan of chest and C reactive of protein. Which are supportive evidence of inflammations not only for covid. Now Doctors give you a steroid, antibiotics and antiviral. Few of them are not even effective against covid. Always remember if you are in panic, your Doctor who is treating you will also go into panic, after all he is human and he is answerable for you.

If you have asymptomatic covid , it means that your immunity is working very well for you. All these medicines are very powerful and have very strong side effects. They together crush your natural immunity, which otherwise could have saved you.

So my dear friends, it’s a matter of choice. Whether to be instinctive or intelligent. Even if you are both, don’t let your instinct get the better of your intelligence. You will definitely live longer, better, healthier and explore more possibilities...
