Lucknow, April 27 (TNA) On a day statewide tally of new COVID cases came down in Uttar Pradesh, the state recorded a high of 265 deaths in a single day, with state capital Lucknow alone logging 39 deaths, as per official record shared by the health department. Lucknow registered 4437 new cases while UP logged 32993, a third consecutive day decline.
Fatalities however continued to remain worrisome. Kanpur city reported 15 deaths, Prayagraj (13), Varanasi (13), Ghaziabad also recorded a high of 15 deaths in the last 24-hours. A dozen deaths have been reported from Noida - another high. Jhansi reported eight deaths, Moradabad and Agra 4 each, Ballia also reported a high of six cases, Jaunpur 4, Shahjahanpur 4 and Sonebhadra 3.
Etawah, Hardoi reported three deaths each, Gonda had a high of six fatalities in the past 24-hours and Kushinagar reported its highest so far of nine deaths. Five deaths have been reported in Banda and Basti, four in Amethi, Balrampur and Etah. Kasganj reported five deaths.
Health experts say this was a worrying news as it reflected that the Corona carnage had now begun ins second tier towns and cities of the state as well. They blame all this on UP Panchayat polls which is witnessing huge crowds during balloting. Social distancing and other protocols, they point out, go for a toss in such situations.
